We are establishing a certified Air Brake (Code 15) assessment facility in Surrey BC — currently under the ICBC approval process. Register your interest and be first to know when we launch.
Our Air Brake certification facility is currently going through the ICBC approval process. Once approved, students will be able to complete their full Code 15 assessment on-site at our Surrey location — no separate ICBC visit required.
Register Your Interest →The Air Brake Endorsement (Code 15) is mandatory for operating any vehicle equipped with air brakes on BC roads and highways. This includes semi-trucks, buses, large delivery trucks, and some recreational vehicles.
Any driver operating a vehicle with an air brake system on BC highways — regardless of licence class. This includes Class 1, 2, and 3 commercial drivers (where it is built into the road test) and Class 5 or 7N drivers who need to operate air-braked vehicles such as large RVs or certain commercial trucks.
The Code 15 endorsement is added directly to your BC driver's licence. It confirms you have passed both the ICBC Air Brake knowledge test (24 multiple choice questions, 80% to pass) and the practical air brake pre-trip inspection — either at ICBC or at a certified assessment facility like Drive Force Academy (pending approval).
You must hold a valid BC driver's licence of any class before applying for the Code 15 air brake endorsement.
Complete an ICBC-approved Air Brake theory course covering air brake components, system operation, safety procedures, and pre-trip inspection requirements. Drive Force Academy will offer this course once our facility approval is complete.
Write the Air Brake knowledge test at an ICBC Driver Licensing office or designated ServiceBC location. The test is 24 multiple-choice questions — you need 80% to pass.
Demonstrate your air brake knowledge in a hands-on pre-trip inspection of an air-braked vehicle. Once Drive Force Academy's facility is approved, students will be able to complete this assessment on-site with our certified instructors.
Air brake systems use compressed air instead of hydraulic fluid to apply braking force. They are more powerful — essential for stopping heavy vehicles carrying large loads — but they require a completely different pre-trip inspection process and respond differently under hard braking. Driving a vehicle with air brakes without proper training is illegal in BC and genuinely dangerous.
Both Ravi and Sunny hold Class 1 licences with Air Brake (Code 15) endorsements and have operated air-braked vehicles professionally for a combined 28+ years. When Drive Force Academy's certification facility launches, students will be trained by instructors who use air brakes as part of their daily professional practice — not instructors who have only studied them in a classroom.
Register your interest and we will contact you the moment our Air Brake certification facility receives ICBC approval.
